Why we exist

Across Pakistan, a child's future too often turns on whether anyone could afford the first letter. We exist to close that gap — without ever profiting from it.

The A & N Foundation is a public company limited by guarantee, dedicated entirely to public welfare. Every rupee, every property, and every resource is bound by law to a single purpose: advancing education, literacy, and socio-economic development for communities that need it most.

We don't award degrees, run housing schemes, or take political sides. We teach people to read, help students stay in school, and give researchers and writers room to think — and we publish how the money moves so you never have to take that on faith.

What we do

Three ways we turn giving into learning

Distinct programmes, one purpose. Each is funded only by lawful donations and grants, and spent only on the work below.

Schools & literacy centres

We set up, run, and sustain places to learn — schools, colleges, computer-literacy labs, reading rooms, and adult-education classes for those who never got their turn.

  • Founding and managing schools and colleges
  • Computer literacy for a digital economy
  • Adult education and second chances

Scholarships & student support

For students who've earned the chance but can't yet afford it: direct aid that keeps the path open, from first fees to final placement.

  • Stipends, book grants, and fee support
  • Merit awards and medals for achievement
  • Career guidance and progression mentoring

Arts & sciences

Learning doesn't stop at school. We back the people who push knowledge forward — researchers, writers, and the public conversations between them.

  • Research grants and literary studies
  • Awards for scientific advancement
  • Public workshops, symposia, and dialogue
How the work gets done

Empowered to build — and bounded by purpose

The Foundation holds the powers it needs to operate, and not one beyond them.

Raising funds

Lawful giving, in cash or in kind

We solicit and accept donations, grants, and gifts — local and foreign — and apply them only toward our charitable objectives.

Holding property

Assets for projects, never for trade

We acquire and manage the property our programmes require. Commercial housing schemes and unrelated real-estate business are strictly off-limits.

Stewarding funds

Prudent, so programmes last

We bank responsibly and invest surplus only in low-risk avenues — preserving today's gifts to sustain tomorrow's classrooms.

Our promises, in writing

Trust isn't asked for. It's structured.

These aren't goodwill statements. They're binding constraints written into our Memorandum of Association and enforced under our SECP licence.

01

No profit is ever distributed

All income, revenue, and surplus is reinvested in the mission. No dividends, bonuses, or payouts reach members or their families — ever.

02

Members aren't paid

No member or their family draws a salary or office payment — and that bar holds for five years after a member resigns.

03

Strictly non-political, non-sectarian

We fund no campaigns and no candidates, operate as no trade union, and never exploit or offend religious sentiment.

04

Money moves on the record

All local and foreign funding flows through official banking channels — crossed cheques or bank drafts — and nothing else.

05

Audited every year

The books close on 30 June annually, opening our finances to formal review and keeping accountability on a fixed clock.

06

Locked on closure

If the Foundation ever winds up, no member takes a share. Every asset passes to another Section 42 charity doing similar work.
